Eat Mexico, founded in 2010, is the only culinary tour operator in Mexico City that focuses exclusively on street food, markets and fondas. Its founders are Lesley Téllez, an American expat living in Mexico City, and Jesica Lopez Sol, a Mexico City native. Both were looking for a way to show tourists how exciting and complicated Mexican food could be, particularly in the informal economy that excludes restaurants.

Eat Mexico’s original routes — Tacos, Street Food and Markets — were based around places where both Lesley and Jesica liked to eat. That’s still how we choose our stops today, along with gathering input from our expert local guides.

Jesica left the company in 2011. Lesley continues on as owner and head-jefa-in-charge.
