Lesley Téllez, Eat Mexico Owner & Executive Director

Lesley worked as a newspaper reporter for eight years before moving to Mexico City with her husband in January 2009. She co-founded Eat Mexico about a year later, and currently handles all of the business’s day-to-day operations, including developing new routes and — most importantly — tasting new foods.
In addition to running Eat Mexico, Lesley is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Food & Wine, American Way Magazine and the Los Angeles Times, among other publications. She blogs about Mexican food and Mexican culture at The Mija Chronicles.
Lesley is finishing up a diploma program in Mexican gastronomy from the Escuela de Gastronomía Mexicana. She is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
Favorite street food: Tlacoyos, with all the fixin’s and a spoonful of green salsa on top.
Weirdest food she’s eaten in Mexico: Pig uterus tacos.
Mezcal, tequila or pulque? Mezcal all the way. It’s so smoky and multi-layered. And it tastes really good with orange slices dusted with chile powder.
