Street Food, Pulque and Mezcal

Time: 4 to 5 hours
Held: Monday-Saturday, 3:00-7:00 p.m.
Description: Join us on a tour that combines some of Lesley’s favorite things: street food and mezcal, the distilled spirit made from the agave plant. On this tour we’ll start out by nibbling on street food: seafood tacos, tlacoyos, quesadillas, and mole enchiladas. Then we’d move on to a local pulquería, where we’d try a few varieties and learn about the history of this native Mexican beverage, made from fermented maguey sap. Lastly, we’d finish in a mezcalería, where one of Mexico City’s top mezcal aficionados would give us a tasting of four small-batch, artisan mezcales that you can’t find outside Mexico. There would also be a chance to purchase this mezcal afterward. This tour is about 4 hours long and is conducted in the Roma neighborhood.
Note: On Saturdays, this tour takes place in the Centro Histórico and the route is slightly different. If you’re interested in a Saturday mescal tour, please email us for details.

Mezcal & Late Night Tacos

Time: 8:00 p.m.-midnight
Held: Monday-Thursday, Saturday nights
Description: Join us as we zip around Mexico City in a private, chauffeured vehicle. First stop is a mezcalería, where we’ll try a small-batch, artisan mezcal. Then we’ll visit three iconic Mexico City taquerías. Think you’ve tried tacos in the Mexican capital? You ain’t seen nothing until you’ve joined the throngs eating on sidewalks after 10:00 p.m. This tour offers tastes of tacos de suadero, tacos al pastor, vulcanes de queso and tacos de arrachera. It’s not fit for vegetarians but meat-eaters will love it! Extra tip: If you want to continue the party afterward, our driver will drop you off at local bar specializing in Mexican microbrews.

[...] I met a new friend at the end of one of my mezcal tours. He’s a food enthusiast, too, and he suggested that we gather a group and spend the day [...]
I would like to join a group for a visit in january or febuary, can you suggest me the appropriate time to go there?
thank you
Guy
Hi Guy: Do you mean based on the weather? The weather is great in Mexico City in both January and February, although we occasionally have cold spells. (It never snows or gets below 50 degrees, usually.) So I’d say either month is a good time to take the tour. At this point, I have a couple taking a tour on Feb. 13, so you’re welcome to join them. Many clients book with only a week or two’s notice at the most, so I’m sure we’ll get some more bookings between now and then. If you like, I can email you the next time we have a mezcal tour booking for January. Sound good?
