We offer four routes of the Mexico City food scene:
Street Food
Markets
Regional Tacos of Mexico
Late Night Tacos + Mezcal
Most of our tours include a lot of walking (it’s helpful in digesting the food!), so it’s best if you’re comfortable with a moderate amount of physical activity.
Please read more below, including prices and days available. If you have any questions — about transportation, meeting points, or how to book — check out our Tour Overview or FAQ, or send us an email to info@eatmexico.com.
Mexico City Street Food

Time: 4 hours
Style: Walking tour
Held: Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 or 1:30 p.m.
Description: A three-and-a-half hour glimpse at one of the most vibrant street food scenes in the world. Moving from stand to stand, we’ll try fresh-squeezed fruit juice, tacos al pastor, tamales and atole (a typical rice and masa drink that’s served during the mornings); tlacoyos, quesadillas and more. You’ll learn about the history of each food, and discover a little more about how the street food system is organized in a typical neighborhood.
This tour is good for….
*People who want to try as much street food is possible
*Visitors who would like to tour closer to the city’s central hotel zone. The area we explore — the Cuauhtémoc and Zona Rosa neighborhoods — is considered more of a business district, as well as a residential area, hence all the great street food options.
*Vegetarians or vegans
Price
- Public Tour (limit 4 people): $85 USD per person for 2 people
- Private Tour: $95 USD per person for 2 people
- For groups of 3 or more please email us for the price
- We also accommodate one person traveling alone for $115 USD
Mexico City Market Tour

Time: 3 to 4 hours
Style: Walking Tour
Held: Monday through Saturday; times vary, but usually 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Description: For anyone interested in Mexican food, a trip to a typical Mexico City market is a must. On this tour we’ll visit one of two Mexico City markets: the famous Mercado San Juan and the more working-class Arcos de Belém. We’ll visit the market’s fruit, vegetable, mole and dried chile stands, and meet some of the vendors. We’ll discuss some of the history of the flavors and ingredients, which reflect Mexico’s mix of Spanish and Meso-American influences. This tour also includes stops for street food in the nearby vicinity.
This tour is good for…
*People who crave an “off the beaten path” working-class neighborhood
*Travelers who don’t mind a little dirt and grit
*Anyone interested in gaining an in-depth understanding of a Mexico City market
*Anyone who likes lively, somewhat chaotic urban neighborhoods

Regional Tacos of Mexico

Time: 3 1/2 to 4 hours
Style: Walking Tour
Held: Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4:30/5 p.m.
Description: Mexico City is the only place in the country where you can find food from all over the republic. On this tour, you’ll try tacos typical to Yucatán, Guerrero, Puebla, Michoacán and Central Mexico. We’ll discuss the history and context of each taco we try, and we’ll also stop by a neighborhood market to learn more about the ingredients. You won’t try any street food on this tour, but we do visit some fabulous fondas, which are small, casual restaurants that serve homestyle food.
Possible variations: Do you love tacos and beer? Ask us about adding a visit to a Mexican microbrew bar at the end of your tour!
This tour is good for…
*People who would rather not try street food
*Taco lovers and fanatics
*Travelers interested in exploring a more trendy neighborhood (this tour takes place in Condesa and Roma, two of Mexico City’s hippest areas)
*Carnivores

This tour offers tastes of tacos árabes, tacos al pastor and volcanes de queso, a crispy tostada slathered with melted cheese. It’s not fit for vegetarians but meat-eaters will love it!
